The hair stick is a two-piece decorative hair accessory made used to hold up a bun or fasten a ponytail.

It was designed to be easy to use without looking, as it would be when fastened behind the users head. There is space between the piece to hold enough hair that it does not fall away, and the stick can be wedged into the holes without it slipping out. The piece seen here was hand carved out of a light beech wood.
