Watering Can
2020, IPD527

The watering can is a half-gallon water container designed keeping ergonomics, user needs, human factors and industrial design as a focus. This was done using the book, "The Measure of Man and Woman" as well as online research into wrist strain and comfort.
The geometry of the handle is built to accommodate average human hand sizes, as well as provide a continuous grip arc to ease pouring. The center of gravity remains underneath or close to the grip at all water levels and tile angles to reduce strain on the wrist. The size of the can and water opening is such that it is easy to fill, while fitting in standard sink sizes. Additionally, the base is a ring of contact with the ground that ensures stability. The earthy color of can will prevent dirt stains from being easily visible while fitting seamlessly into a garden setting.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restricted access to fabrication facilities, the project was paused at the design stage.
